The Arctic Council
The Arctic Council is an intergovernmental forum established in 1996, comprising eight Arctic states: Canada, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and the United States. Its mission is to promote cooperation, coordination, and interaction among Arctic countries, addressing issues like sustainable development, environmental protection, and climate change in the region. The council also includes Indigenous communities to ensure their voices are heard. Through research, policy discussions, and collaborative projects, the Arctic Council aims to improve the lives of people living in the Arctic and protect its unique ecosystem.
