The Anglo-Russian Convention (1907)
The Anglo-Russian Convention of 1907 was a treaty between Britain and Russia that defined their spheres of influence in Persia (Iran), Afghanistan, and Tibet. It helped resolve ongoing territorial disputes and prevented conflict between the two powers by agreeing they would respect each other's interests in these regions. Britain gained control over all of southern Persia, while Russia extended its influence in northern Persia and Afghanistan. The agreement also clarified their respective spheres of influence in Tibet. This understanding improved relations between Britain and Russia, reducing tensions in Central and South Asia during that period.
