The Alcubierre Drive

The Alcubierre Drive is a theoretical concept for faster-than-light travel based on Einstein's general relativity. It proposes manipulating spacetime by contracting it ahead of a spacecraft and expanding it behind, creating a "warp bubble" that moves the vessel without exceeding light speed locally. This means the ship itself doesn't break any known physical laws, but the space around it does, enabling faster travel between distant points in the universe. While promising in theory, it requires exotic matter with negative energy, which has not yet been demonstrated to be possible.
