Thakkar Baba, also known as Thakkar Bapa or Thakkar Baba Lakshman, was an influential Hindu social reformer and activist in India during the early 20th century. Born in 1885, he dedicated his life to uplifting marginalized communities, particularly the tribal populations in Gujarat. He advocated for education, social equality, and the empowerment of women. Thakkar Baba was deeply influenced by Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of self-reliance and non-violence. His efforts laid the groundwork for numerous developmental initiatives and he is remembered for his commitment to improving the lives and rights of the underprivileged in society.
