Tetanus toxoid

Tetanus toxoid is a vaccine used to prevent tetanus, a serious bacterial infection caused by Clostridium tetani. The vaccine contains a harmless form of a toxin produced by the bacteria, which trains the immune system to recognize and fight the actual toxin if exposed. By doing so, it helps prevent the muscle stiffness, spasms, and other symptoms associated with tetanus. Usually given in childhood and as a booster every ten years, tetanus toxoid is a safe and effective way to protect against this potentially deadly disease, especially from wounds contaminated with dirt or bacteria.
