Tetanus serum

Tetanus serum, also known as tetanus antitoxin, is a medical treatment that provides immediate protection against the bacteria that cause tetanus. When someone has a wound that might be contaminated with these bacteria, the serum injects antibodies directly into the body to neutralize the toxin before it causes illness. It is most effective if given early, especially when tetanus vaccination is not recent or unknown. The serum does not treat the infection itself but offers quick, short-term immunity while the person's own immune system can develop longer-lasting protection through vaccination.
