Terry Fox

Terry Fox was a Canadian athlete and cancer research activist who, after losing his leg to cancer, embarked on a daring run across Canada to raise money for cancer research. Starting in St. John’s, Newfoundland, in 1980, he aimed to run a marathon a day but had to stop after 143 days and over 3,000 miles due to health issues. Despite not completing his goal, his efforts inspired millions and helped raise substantial funds for cancer research, making him a national hero and symbol of hope and determination in Canada.
