Terrestrial and Aquatic Ecosystems
Terrestrial ecosystems are land-based environments like forests, grasslands, and deserts, where plants, animals, and fungi interact within the soil and atmosphere. Aquatic ecosystems are water-based environments, such as freshwater lakes, rivers, and oceans, supporting various aquatic plants and animals. Both ecosystems are interconnected parts of the Earth's biosphere, playing vital roles in maintaining ecological balance. While terrestrial ecosystems focus on land life and plant growth, aquatic systems are centered around water life and nutrient cycles. They differ in physical conditions, species diversity, and how energy and nutrients flow through them.
