Termite behavior
Termites are social insects that live in organized colonies, primarily feeding on wood and cellulose. They communicate through chemical signals called pheromones and work collectively to build intricate tunnel systems and mud tubes for shelter and navigation. Termites thrive in warm, moist environments and are often hidden from view, making infestations hard to detect. Workers forage continuously for food, while soldiers defend the colony and a reproductive king and queen focus on reproduction. Their coordinated behavior ensures the survival and expansion of the colony, often causing significant structural damage to wooden structures if left untreated.
