Comics are visual narratives combining images and text. Key terminology includes "panel," a single frame that conveys a moment; "gutter," the space between panels; "caption," a box containing narrative text; "speech balloon," which shows character dialogue; and "balloon tail," the pointer indicating who is speaking. "Splash page" refers to a large, attention-grabbing illustration that typically opens a story. "Sequential art" describes the arrangement of images to tell a story over time.
