Tencha

Tencha is a high-quality green tea leaf that is specially prepared for making matcha, the powdered tea used in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies. It is made from shade-grown tea leaves, which enhances their flavor and color. After harvesting, the leaves are steamed, dried, and then carefully ground into a fine powder. Unlike regular brewed tea, which uses leaves steeped in water, matcha and tencha involve consuming the entire powdered leaf, offering a rich, vibrant taste and concentrated nutrients. Tencha’s smooth, umami flavor makes it the preferred raw material for premium matcha tea.
