Tea Cultivation Techniques
Tea cultivation involves selecting suitable land with proper drainage, mild climate, and adequate rainfall. Tea plants are usually propagated through cuttings or seeds, and require regular pruning to encourage new leaf growth. Proper plucking involves harvesting only the tender, new leaves and buds by hand or machine. After harvesting, leaves are withered, rolled, fermented (for black tea), and dried to develop flavor. Maintaining soil fertility with fertilizers, controlling pests, and ensuring good drainage are essential. Consistent care, including shade management and irrigation when needed, helps produce high-quality tea leaves for processing into various tea types.
