Tchimpounga Sanctuary

Tchimpounga Sanctuary, located in the Republic of Congo, is a rescue and conservation center dedicated to protecting chimpanzees and other primates. It provides a safe habitat for orphaned, injured, or confiscated chimps, many of whom have faced illegal hunting or pet trade. The sanctuary offers rehabilitation and advanced care, aiming to eventually reintroduce them into the wild when possible. It also works to educate the public about wildlife conservation and the threats faced by primates. Managed by the Jane Goodall Institute, Tchimpounga is vital for safeguarding Congo’s limited primate populations and promoting biodiversity.
