Taxane class
Taxanes are a group of chemotherapy drugs used to treat cancer by preventing cancer cells from dividing and multiplying. They work by stabilizing the structures called microtubules inside cells, which are essential for cell division. When microtubules are stabilized, cancer cells cannot complete division, leading to cell death. Common taxanes include paclitaxel and docetaxel. They are often used to treat cancers such as breast, lung, and ovarian cancer. While effective, they can also affect healthy cells that divide rapidly, leading to side effects like hair loss, fatigue, and nerve issues.
