Tanning

Tanning is the process by which the skin develops a darker color after exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun or artificial sources. When UV rays penetrate the skin, they stimulate the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin color. Increased melanin helps protect underlying tissues from UV damage by absorbing or dispersing the harmful rays. The result is a darker, tanned appearance. While some exposure can be beneficial in producing vitamin D, excessive sun exposure can increase the risk of skin damage and skin cancer. Always practice sun safety to protect your skin health.
