Tandem Transplantation

Tandem transplantation in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation involves two sequential transplants, typically using both a patient's own stem cells and donor cells. First, high-dose chemotherapy is given to eliminate the disease, followed by the patient receiving their own stem cells to help restore their immune system. This is often followed by a donor stem cell transplant to further enhance recovery and improve outcomes. The approach aims to maximize the effectiveness of treatment, reduce the risk of relapse, and help the body rebuild a healthy blood and immune system more effectively.
