Tanaiste
The Tánaiste is the Deputy Prime Minister of Ireland and the second-in-command in the government. They are usually the leader of the main opposition party or a senior minister from the party that is part of the ruling coalition. The Tánaiste's primary role is to stand in for the Prime Minister (Taoiseach) if they are unavailable and to assist with government responsibilities. Their position is established by law and political convention, making them a key figure in Ireland’s executive branch, ensuring continuity of government and policy implementation.
