Tamiflu (Oseltamivir)
Tamiflu (Oseltamivir) is an antiviral medication used to treat and prevent influenza (the flu). It works by blocking the virus's ability to multiply in the body, helping to reduce the severity and duration of flu symptoms if taken early. It's most effective when started within 48 hours of symptom onset. Tamiflu can also be prescribed to prevent the flu in people exposed to the virus. While it doesn't cure the flu, it can shorten the illness and decrease complications, especially in vulnerable populations like the elderly or those with weakened immune systems.
