Taeniasis

Taeniasis is an intestinal infection caused by swallowing small, flat worms called tapeworms, which are acquired by eating undercooked or raw infected meat, usually beef or pork. Once inside the intestines, the tapeworms grow and can reach several meters in length, attaching to the intestinal wall. Many people may have no symptoms, but some experience digestive discomfort, weight loss, or nutritional deficiencies. Treatment typically involves oral antiparasitic medications that effectively eliminate the worms. Preventive measures include thoroughly cooking meat and maintaining good hygiene to avoid infection and transmission.
