Systemic Sclerosis
Systemic Sclerosis, also known as scleroderma, is an autoimmune disease where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's connective tissues, causing thickening and hardening of the skin and internal organs. This can lead to problems with blood flow, organ function, and skin flexibility. The exact cause is unknown, but it involves abnormal immune responses and collagen overproduction. Symptoms vary widely and may include skin tightening, Raynaud's phenomenon (color changes in fingers/toes), fatigue, and organ-related issues. While there is no cure, treatment focuses on managing symptoms and preventing complications through medications and supportive care.
