Systemic JIA (Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis)
Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (sJIA) is a type of arthritis that affects children, causing inflammation in the joints as well as other systemic symptoms. Unlike other forms of juvenile arthritis, sJIA can lead to fever, rash, and internal organ involvement. The exact cause is not fully understood, but it is thought to involve an autoimmune response, where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks its own tissues. Diagnosis is based on clinical symptoms and exclusion of other conditions. Treatment often includes medications to reduce inflammation and manage symptoms, helping children lead active lives.
