Systemic Functional Linguistics
Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) is a way of studying language that focuses on how language functions in different social contexts. It views language as a set of choices people make to express their ideas, feelings, and relationships. Instead of just looking at grammar rules, SFL examines how language helps us accomplish things like informing, persuading, or building connections. It sees language as a tool shaped by social purposes, meaning, and context, helping us understand not only what we say but why and how we say it in various situations.
