Syrian Democratic Forces

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are a coalition of primarily Kurdish, Arab, and other ethnic groups formed to fight ISIS and stabilize northeastern Syria. They operate as a military alliance with political leaders aiming for local governance and security. The SDF received support mainly from the U.S. and its allies, helping to defeat ISIS and establish some level of stability in the region. They focus on protecting communities, promoting local self-administration, and preventing the return of extremist groups, playing a key role in Syria’s ongoing conflict and reconstruction efforts.
