Synaptic theory explains how neurons communicate in the brain. Neurons connect at points called synapses, where tiny gaps separate them. When one neuron wants to send a message, it releases chemical signals called neurotransmitters into the synapse. These chemicals cross the gap and bind to receptors on the neighboring neuron, which can then generate an electrical signal. This process allows information to travel quickly and efficiently across neural networks, forming the basis of thoughts, memories, and actions. Essentially, synaptic communication is the core mechanism that enables our brain to process and transmit information.
