Swiss Parliament

The Swiss Parliament is the national legislative body of Switzerland, responsible for making federal laws, approving the budget, and overseeing the government. It consists of two chambers: the National Council, representing the people with 200 members elected by proportional representation, and the Council of States, representing the cantons with 46 members. Members serve four-year terms. The Parliament debates and votes on laws, works alongside the Federal Administration, and plays a vital role in Switzerland’s democratic system by ensuring government accountability and reflecting the diverse interests of its regions.
