Swiss Cantons
Swiss Cantons are semi-autonomous regions that make up Switzerland, similar to states or provinces in other countries. Each canton has its own government, constitution, and laws, especially concerning education, healthcare, and local policies. There are 26 cantons, ranging from large cities like Zurich to smaller, rural areas. They work together within the federal Swiss system, respecting regional differences while united under the national government. This structure allows for local self-governance while maintaining unity across the country’s diverse linguistic, cultural, and geographic landscape.
