Swaraj Movement
The Swaraj Movement was a key part of India’s struggle for independence from British rule, emphasizing self-governance and local control. Led by leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, it promoted the idea that Indians should have the power to run their own affairs instead of relying on the British government. The movement encouraged people to reject British laws, boycott foreign goods, and practice nonviolent resistance. Swaraj, meaning “self-rule,” aimed to empower Indians to take charge of their political, economic, and social lives, fostering unity and patriotism, and ultimately leading to India’s independence in 1947.
