Swabian Peasants
The Swabian Peasants were rural farmers and laborers from the Swabian region of southwestern Germany during the early 16th century. They played a significant role in the German Peasants' War (1524-1525), a widespread uprising motivated by economic hardship, heavy taxation, and desires for social and religious reform. The peasants demanded better living and working conditions, forming alliances based on religious ideas like those of Martin Luther. Their rebellion was ultimately suppressed, but it highlighted rural discontent and contributed to broader changes in social and political structures in Germany.
