Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) are designed to manage rainwater in a way that mimics natural processes. Instead of letting water run off hard surfaces like roads and roofs, SuDS use features like green roofs, swales (shallow channels), and ponds to absorb and slow down rainfall. This helps prevent flooding, reduces pollution, and enhances local biodiversity.
