Surgical Endoscopy
Surgical endoscopy is a minimally invasive medical procedure that uses a specialized instrument called an endoscope—a thin, flexible tube with a light and camera at its tip—to visualize and treat internal organs and tissues. This technique allows doctors to examine areas inside the body, such as the stomach or joints, without large incisions. The images from the camera are displayed on a monitor, guiding the surgeon to perform precise procedures like biopsies, removals, or repairs. Surgical endoscopy typically results in less pain, quicker recovery, and smaller scars compared to traditional open surgery.
