Super PACs

Super PACs, or "Independent Expenditure-Only Committees," are organizations that can raise and spend unlimited amounts of money to support or oppose political candidates. Unlike traditional political action committees (PACs), they cannot directly contribute to candidates or coordinate with their campaigns. Instead, they spend their funds on activities like advertisements and outreach to influence voters. Super PACs emerged after a 2010 Supreme Court ruling that emphasized free speech rights, allowing wealthy individuals and corporations to have a significant impact on election outcomes through substantial financial contributions. Their activities play a major role in modern U.S. elections.
