Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM)

The Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) is a political and military organization that was formed to represent and advocate for the rights of southern Sudanese people, primarily seeking independence from Sudan. It played a key role in the Sudanese civil wars, fighting against the northern government to end marginalization and discrimination. In 2005, the SPLM signed a peace agreement leading to South Sudan’s independence in 2011. Today, the SPLM continues to be a major political force in South Sudan, working to promote peace, stability, and governance in the newly formed nation.
