Subterranean termites are small insects that live underground and feed on wood and cellulose-based materials. They build extensive tunnel systems to access sources of food, often damaging wooden structures, furniture, and foundations without immediate visible signs. These termites thrive in moist environments and can cause significant structural damage if untreated. Their colonies include workers, soldiers, and reproductive termites called alates, which swarm to establish new colonies. Because they hide underground or inside walls, detecting infestations early can be challenging, making professional inspection and treatment important for prevention and control.
