Structural vulnerability

Structural vulnerability refers to how societal systems—like healthcare, education, housing, and employment—can create or worsen disparities among different groups. It highlights how certain populations, due to their socioeconomic status, race, gender, or geographic location, face higher risks of poor health, hardship, or injustice because of limited access or unfair treatment within these structures. This vulnerability isn’t about individual weaknesses but is embedded in the societal framework, making some groups more susceptible to negative outcomes regardless of their personal efforts or characteristics.
