Strong Sustainability Theory
Strong Sustainability Theory is an ecological concept that emphasizes the need to maintain natural capital (like ecosystems and biodiversity) at a level that ensures the Earth can support life in the long run. It argues that human activities should not degrade the environment to the point where it cannot regenerate. Unlike weak sustainability, which allows for substituting natural resources with human-made ones, strong sustainability insists that certain natural resources are irreplaceable and must be preserved. Ultimately, it seeks a balance where economic growth does not compromise environmental health for future generations.
