Brundtland Commission

The Brundtland Commission, officially known as the World Commission on Environment and Development, was established by the United Nations in 1983. It aimed to address global environmental issues and sustainable development. In 1987, it released the report "Our Common Future," which introduced the concept of sustainable development—meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The Commission emphasized the interdependence of economic growth, social equity, and environmental protection, highlighting the need for integrated solutions to global challenges such as poverty and environmental degradation.
