Stimulus Overload

Stimulus overload occurs when the brain receives more sensory information than it can process effectively. This can happen in busy environments with loud noises, bright lights, or many conversations happening simultaneously. The overwhelm can lead to feelings of stress, irritability, fatigue, or difficulty focusing. Essentially, the brain struggles to filter and prioritize the incoming information, making it hard to think clearly or remain calm. This is common in individuals who are sensitive to sensory input or have conditions like autism or anxiety, but anyone can experience stimulus overload in highly stimulating situations.
