Stewart dynasty

The Stewart dynasty was a significant royal family that ruled England and later Great Britain from 1603 to 1714. Beginning with King James I, who united Scotland and England, the Stuarts oversaw major events like the English Civil War, the temporary abolition of monarchy, and the Glorious Revolution. Their reign saw political conflicts between monarchy and Parliament, religious tensions, and the expansion of imperial power. The dynasty ended with Queen Anne, after which the throne passed to the House of Hanover. Their rule was influential in shaping Britain’s constitutional monarchy and national identity.
