Stephen Bantu Biko

Stephen Bantu Biko was a South African anti-apartheid activist and leader who fought against racial segregation and injustice during the 1960s and 1970s. He co-founded the Black Consciousness Movement, empowering Black South Africans to develop pride, confidence, and self-awareness in the face of oppressive policies. Biko advocated for equality and human rights, challenging apartheid's system of racial discrimination. His leadership inspired many to resist racial injustice through nonviolent means. Tragically, he died in police custody in 1977, becoming a symbol of resistance and a martyr in the fight to end apartheid.
