States of Australia
Australia consists of six states and two territories. The states are New South Wales (NSW), Victoria (VIC), Queensland (QLD), Western Australia (WA), South Australia (SA), and Tasmania (TAS). Each state has its own government and laws. The two territories, the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and the Northern Territory (NT), are governed more directly by the federal government. Australia is known for its diverse landscapes and climates, ranging from tropical regions in Queensland to temperate zones in Tasmania. Major cities include Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Hobart, each with unique cultural and economic characteristics.
