State Law and Order Restoration Council (SLORC)

The State Law and Order Restoration Council (SLORC) was a military government that ruled Myanmar from 1988 to 1997 after seizing power through a coup. It replaced the existing government, curtailed political freedoms, and governed with strict control to maintain order. The SLORC was responsible for suppressing opposition, including protests and activism, and later transitioned into the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC). Its rule was marked by human rights concerns and limited democratic processes.
