Stages of Mitosis

Mitosis is the process by which a cell divides into two identical daughter cells. It occurs in four main stages: 1. **Prophase**, where the cell's nucleus begins to break down, and chromosomes condense and become visible. 2. **Metaphase**, where chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell, guided by spindle fibers. 3. **Anaphase**, where sister chromatids (identical halves of a chromosome) are pulled apart to opposite sides. 4. **Telophase**, where new nuclear membranes form around the separated chromosomes, and the cell starts to split. This process ensures genetic information is accurately passed on during cell division.
