St. Maximilian Kolbe

St. Maximilian Kolbe was a Polish Franciscan friar, martyr, and saint known for his deep faith and selfless acts. Born in 1894, he founded the Militia Immaculatae, promoting devotion to the Virgin Mary. During World War II, he was arrested by the Nazis for his opposition to their regime and later sent to Auschwitz. In 1941, he volunteered to die in place of a fellow prisoner, showcasing extraordinary courage and compassion. Canonized in 1982, his legacy serves as a powerful example of sacrifice, love, and the fight against hatred, inspiring many to live out their faith through acts of kindness.
