St. John of Capistrano

St. John of Capistrano (1386-1456) was an Italian Franciscan friar and missionary known for his deep commitment to the church and efforts in combating heresy. He played a significant role in the religious revival of his time, emphasizing moral reform and public preaching. St. John is particularly remembered for his leadership during the successful defense of the city of Belgrade against the Ottomans in 1456. Canonized as a saint in 1690, his feast day is celebrated on October 23, and he is regarded as the patron saint of jurists and military chaplains.
