St. Anselm of Canterbury
St. Anselm of Canterbury was an influential medieval philosopher and theologian known for his work on understanding God and faith. He is famous for the argument that God's existence can be logically understood through reason alone, summarized as “God is that than which nothing greater can be conceived.” Anselm believed faith and reason complement each other, and his writings helped shape medieval Christian thought. He also served as Archbishop of Canterbury and contributed to the development of Scholasticism, a method of logic and philosophy used to explore religious truths.
