Srimanta Sankardeva was a 15th-16th century Indian saint, philosopher, and social reformer from Assam. He is renowned for blending spiritual teachings with the regional culture, advocating for devotion, compassion, and unity among diverse communities. Sankardeva was the founder of the Bhakti movement in Assam and composed many devotional songs, scriptures, and dance-drama forms called Sattriya. His efforts promoted social harmony, reject caste divisions, and emphasized love for all humanity.
