Sport Commitment Model

The Sport Commitment Model explains why athletes stay involved in sports. It suggests that commitment results from a combination of factors such as personal enjoyment, social connections, and the value placed on sport participation. When athletes find their sport enjoyable, socially rewarding, and personally meaningful, they are more likely to be dedicated and continue participating, even when facing challenges. Conversely, lack of enjoyment or social support can decrease commitment. This model helps us understand what factors motivate athletes to stick with their sport over time and maintain their level of involvement.
