Spontaneous Process
A spontaneous process is one that occurs naturally without needing added energy from outside sources. It moves toward a state of greater stability or less energy, often increasing the disorder or entropy of the system. For example, a drop of ink dispersing in water happens spontaneously because it naturally spreads out over time. These processes can happen on their own once started, but they don’t necessarily happen quickly. Whether a process is spontaneous depends on factors like temperature and the nature of the substances involved, and not necessarily on how long it takes to complete.
