Spodosol
Spodosols are a type of soil typically found in cooler, forested regions, particularly in areas with sandy parent material, such as coastal or glacial areas. They are characterized by a distinct layer of leached, pale-colored sand beneath the surface, known as the E horizon, which is low in nutrients. Below this layer, there is often a darker layer rich in organic matter and minerals, called the B horizon. Spodosols are generally acidic and can support specific types of vegetation, but they are not very fertile for agriculture without proper management due to their nutrient-poor nature.
