split-brain

Split-brain refers to a condition where the connection between the brain's two hemispheres (called the corpus callosum) is severed, often to treat severe epilepsy. This separation prevents the two sides from sharing information, causing each hemisphere to operate independently. For example, a person might see an object in their right visual field and can name it verbally, but if the same object appears in the left visual field, they might recognize it but be unable to say what it is. Essentially, split-brain individuals experience a kind of "divide" in their mind, with each hemisphere processing information separately.
